Chris Chin wearing his new black belt at Ishikawa Judo Club

New Black Belt Alert

Ishikawa Judo Club is proud to celebrate one of our own. Long-time club member Chris Chin has officially been awarded his black belt in judo by Judo Canada, completing a journey many years in the making.

Chris passed his grading this month, and for anyone who knows him, this moment has been a long time coming. As a seasoned adult judoka, his achievement is a reminder that judo is not a young person’s sport. It is a lifelong practice, and Chris is proof of that.

What makes this even more special is the way Chris has given back to the club throughout his journey. He is an NCCP Certified instructor, has helped coach at tournaments, and has always made time for new students finding their footing on the mat. He has been a quiet, steady presence at Ishikawa for years, the kind of member every club is lucky to have.

Chris never gave up on the path to black belt. That kind of persistence is exactly what judo teaches, and he has lived it.

On behalf of everyone at Ishikawa Judo Club, congratulations, Chris. Well deserved.
